Upgrading the standard BMW suspension with stiffened and lowered shock absorbers and springs has a double benefit. The car's handling and cornering abilities are greatly improved, no more deep rolling on corners. The uprated suspension lowers the car by approximately 2.5inches, giving the car a lower stance and dropping the body shell lower onto the wheels.
I used a Spax kit that was fitted by my local garage. Both rear shocks developed leaks within three months but Spax quickly replaced these and even refunded the cost of changing them and I've had no problems with the suspension setup since. The official blurb from Spax about the kit is as follows:
